Officers from the Investigation Services Section are actively investigating a robbery and they are asking for any information from the public that can help get this criminal off of our streets.

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 12:20 pm an elderly female was walking across the south side parking lot of Canadian Tire heading for the Group Health Centre when an unknown male attacked her. The male forcefully removed her purse from her causing her to fall to the ground. He than fled with her purse and was seen getting into a vehicle and fleeing the area. The victim received some minor scrapes and bruises. Fortunately the victims purse, with all her identification, was located in a dumpster by the Cambrian Mall Security staff. Unfortunately all of the money she has in her purse was gone. The male suspect, described as being young, wearing black pants, black hat and a black jacket was last seen getting into the passenger side of a small dark royal blue car. The car had tinted windows and had headlights that flip up. If you witnessed this incident, know who this suspect is, or recognize the description of this car, call City Police at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 942-7867.

Update: Last evening officers from the Investigation Services Section of the City Police arrested 39-year old Paul King of Burlington, Ontario and charged him with one count of robbery in relation to a the above incident. He will appear in bail court this morning. Officers are still continuing to work on this matter.

Outstanding Warrants

31-year old Kenneth Boyer of no fixed address will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested on outstanding warrants for breach of a release document by failing to appear for fingerprints. He was arrested yesterday morning without incident

Break & Enter

19-year old Shaun Wilson of no fixed address will also be appearing in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on the 1st of November the accused, along with a 15-year old youth, broke into a home in the 600 block of Second Line West and assaulted a male resident of that address. Both Mr. Wilson and the youth were on probation orders at the time of the offence. Mr. Wilson has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an indictable offence and 3 counts of breach of probation. The youth has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit and indictable offence and one count of breach of probation. The youth will appear in court on December 14th.

Impaired Driving

Yesterday afternoon shortly before 5 pm, 43-year old Christopher Cairns of 1143 Second Line West was stopped in the downtown area after reports were received of a possible impaired driver. Mr. Cairns was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on December 6th.

Breach + B&E

City Police arrested 20-year old Glen Pelchat of 320 Patrick Street yesterday morning. Mr. Pelchat was on probation with terms not to associate with another male and when officers were at an address arresting the other male they found Mr. Pelchat there. Mr. Pelchat was also wanted for a break and enter that had occurred on the 14th of October in the 1300 block of Fourth Line East. The accused has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an indictable offence and 3 counts of breach of probation. He will appear in court on December 13th.

Several Charges Inc. Gun Charges

Last evening officers from the Investigation Services Section executed a search warrant at a basement apartment at 146 Turner Avenue. Police recovered stolen property from 2 two break and enters that occurred on the 25th of October-one in the 900 block of Airport Road and one in the 1000 block of Carpin Beach Road. In addition to the stolen property officers also located a small amount of cannabis resin as well as a .410 rifle that was not secured properly. Further investigation revealed that the resident of that apartment did not possess any of the proper documentation for the firearm and it was not registered. 20-year old Kevin Guise has been charged with 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of contravention of firearms regulations, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing possession unauthorized, and one count of possession of restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition. The accused will appear in court on December 13th.

Assault

Around 2 am this morning 24-year old Marlene St. Germain of 140 Sutton Place assaulted another female in the downtown area by punching the victim in the face. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on December 6th.

Pedestrian Struck

Yesterday morning shortly after 8 am City Police attended at the intersection of Truck Road and Boundary Road for an accident involving a pedestrian and a pickup truck. 69-year old Doreen Odber of Boundary Road was walking northbound across Trunk Road when a pickup truck operated by Gary Brown, age 54, of Anna Street struck her. Mr. Brown had been turning left onto Trunk Road coming from Adeline Street when he struck the pedestrian. Mrs. Odber was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Brown has been charged with one count of fail to yield to pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act.

Attempted Break & Enter

Yesterday morning a homeowner in the 300 block of Gillies Street reported someone attempted to break into the home overnight. Entry was not gained.
