Two males will appear in bail court this morning: 1) A 40-year old male was arrested yesterday morning on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that in July of this year the accused threatened his ex-girlfriend and a male friend of hers.

1) A 40-year old male was arrested yesterday morning on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that in July of this year the accused threatened his ex-girlfriend and a male friend of hers. At the time of the offence the accused was on conditions not to communicate with the female victim. The male will appear in court this morning on one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of breach of a release order.

2) Officers from Investigation Services arrested a 40-year old male yesterday morning and charged him with three counts of assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, one count of assault with a weapon, two counts of threatening to damage property and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that between 1996 and April of 2002 the accused committed these offences against his ex-girlfriend. The offences included pushing and shoving the victim and throwing her down a flight of stairs. The accused also threatened to burn her clothing on two occasions and threatened to burn her.

Copper Wire Thief Found

Officers from Investigation Services arrested 20-year old Ryan Chiarello of 119 Salisbury Avenue last evening. It is alleged that between June and August of this year the accused stole copper wire from the following locations:

1) Red Star Electric on Industrial Court on three different occasions;

2) PUC on Second Line East on two occasions;

3) Great Lakes Power sub station on Third Line East on two occasions and

4) Prince Lake wind farms on one occasion.

It is alleged that accused then sold the copper to a local scrap yard. The accused has been charged with four counts of theft under $5,000 and four counts of possession of property obtained by crime. The accused will appear in court on October 23rd.

Assult Charges

50-year old Stephen Foster of 108 Gladstone Avenue was arrested last evening and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the arm of a City Transit bus driver who was operating the bus. This caused the driver to lose control of the bus. The bus struck a light pole at the intersection of Dennis Street and Queen Street East. The light standard then fell and struck a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk at the intersection. The bus had been traveling southbound on Dennis Street at the time of the assault. The 34-year old male pedestrian received non-life threatening injuries but did not require any medical treatment. The bus driver did not receive any injuries nor did the accused. Foster will appear in court on October 23rd.

Fraud Charges

46-year old Gena Caicco of 22-1001 Second Line West was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of fraud. It is alleged that yesterday afternoon the accused switched price tags on a package of chicken thereby making the chicken cheaper. The incident occurred at Joe’s No Fills on Korah Road. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over the City Police. She will appear in court on October 16th.

Single Bear Sighting

There was one bear sighting yesterday afternoon on Anderson Road just before 4 pm.

Three break and enters were reported yesterday:

1) Sometime overnight between September 12th to 13th Style Hair Studio on Pine Street was broken into and a portable phone was taken.

2) Yesterday afternoon a homeowner on Chippewa Street reported a break and enter in which jewellery was taken.

3) Around 10 pm last evening a residence on Second Avenue was entered and a TV, an X-box360, DVD’s and a computer were stolen.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Just before 8:30 am yesterday morning officers from Traffic Services attended at Black Road and MacDonald Avenue for a single motor vehicle collision with injuries. A car operated by an 18-year old male was traveling northbound on Black Road. The vehicle attempted to turn onto MacDonald Avenue and slid over the north curb on MacDonald Avenue and slide along the guide wire from a utility pole. The vehicle then flipped onto its passenger side and came to a rest. The driver and one of the 3 passengers were taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was severely damaged. The investigation is ongoing.
