STEALING FROM VEHICLES At 1:36 this morning city police were called to 621 MacDonald Avenue in regard to three males going through cars. While on route to the location one of the vehicles entered had it’s alarm set off causing the suspects to flee.

At 1:36 this morning city police were called to 621 MacDonald Avenue in regard to three males going through cars. While on route to the location one of the vehicles entered had it’s alarm set off causing the suspects to flee.

The complainant was able to keep visual contact of the suspects and directed officers into the area where the suspects were running. As a result two adults and one young offender were arrested and charged with theft under $ 5,000, possession of stolen property, trespassing by night and possession of house breaking tools.

Charged are John Silus MacLean Jr. age 19, of 88 Pilgrim Street and Stephen Douglas Bradley, age 22 of 88 Pilgrim Street. The two adults will be appearing in court on Monday October 25th at 9:00 am and the young offender will be attending court on Tues. October 19th at 9:30.


CUSTOMER PEPPER-SPRAYED DOORMAN
At 9:00 last night city police were called to the Canadian Hotel in regards to an assault. Upon arrival officers were informed that a male, who was being escort out of the bar area, had used pepper spray on one of the doormen.

As a result, Jean Francois Hebert, age 19 of 9 Robertson Road, Elliot Lake, was charged with assault with weapon. He will be appearing in court on Monday October 25th at 9:00 am.


HOUSE FIRE
At 3:25 pm yesterday, city police answered a call about a house fire in the 500 block of Old Goulais Bay Road. Upon arrival officers were informed that a pot of oil had caught fire while on the stove. This resulted in minor injuries to a female resident and some damage to the home.


BREAK & ENTERS
City police are investigating three break-ins that took place within the last 24 hours.

Entries were reported to a residence in the 100 block of Manitou Dr. where culprits forced a side door and stole a quantity of jewellery.

A break-in was also reported in the 100 block of Pim Street. At this location culprits forced a rear window to gain entry. Once inside it is believed they were frightened off by the alarm.

The third break-in was reported to the Lincoln Motel were suspect forced a rear door entered the premises and stole a safe.


PAINT BALL MISCHIEF
There were three reports of mischief overnight. In two of the incidents paint-ball guns were used to cause damage. A residence and a car in the 1600 block of Queen Street East. were damaged by 3 paint balls. The second incident took place in the 400 block of North Street where a house was struck. Vandals also damaged a car in the 500 block of Wallace Terrace yesterday.


SEAT BELT PROGRAM TO START
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Section advises that they will be starting a seat belt enforcement program this weekend. Although Sault Ste Marie residents have a high compliance with this law there are still a high number of injuries reported yearly from failure to wear the seatbelts.
