Sault Ste. Marie police have charged three men with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Early yesterday morning, officers conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Capp Avenue and Clement Street observed what appeared to be cocaine inside a vehicle.
A further search uncovered approximately 14 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine and approximately 27 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. The estimated street value of the suspected drugs is $5,450.
All three men inside the car were arrested: 52-year-old Tiger Carter, 35-year-old Jean-Paul Grenier, and 30-year-old Jamie Powley.
Carter and Powley were both released from custody and are scheduled for another court appearance on Feb. 6, 2023. Grenier — who was also charged with failure to comply with a release order — remains in jail pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court. All three men are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
