Sault police say they busted a man yesterday afternoon carrying more than $25,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine — and a prohibited knife.
Police say around 1 p.m. on June 1, detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit were near the 200 block of Second Line West when they spotted a man in a vehicle wanted for a surety revocation. Officers pulled over the vehicle and arrested the driver.
“During a subsequent search detectives found the accused to be in possession of approximately 28 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, approximately 40 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, approximately 26 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and a prohibited knife,” reads a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $25,946.”
Mark Mancuso, 35, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing. None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
