Officers from Investigation Services are working on an assault that has sent one person to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The male victim, who was in a vehicle, and 4 persons in an older model gray vehicle got into a verbal altercation in the downtown area. The victim stopped his vehicle on Bruce Street near Wellington Street East and was assaulted by the persons in the gray vehicle. The incident occurred around midnight. The occupants of the suspect vehicle are 2 males and 2 females. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in this matter. With the warm weather there was a lot of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area and police are asking any witnesses to contact them at 949-6300. Two To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

1) 34-year old William Elsie of 3-233 Lake Street was arrested yesterday afternoon by officers from Patrol Services and charged with one count of theft over $5,000. It is alleged that the accused stole a vehicle from Calgary Alberta. The accused and the vehicles owner are known to each other. Officers located the vehicle in the City’s west end at a residence.

2) Just before 3 am this morning officers from Patrol Services stopped a vehicle on Wellington Street East in the eastern area of town after receiving information that the vehicle had been taken from the owner without their consent. Officers located what was believed to be 4 grams of cocaine on the female driver as well as two syringes with what is believed to be morphine. It is further alleged that the female also had a canister of pepper spray on her person. The accused was on a release order with conditions not to possess any prohibited weapons or devices as well as a release order to notify a change of address, which it is alleged she failed to do. 26-year old Tracy Mack has been charged with one count of possession of weapon for purpose dangerous to public, two counts of breach of release orders and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

Break & Enters

Yesterday two break and enters were investigated by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service:

1) Just before 12 noon homeowners on Fields Square discovered that their home had been entered between 8 am and 12 noon. Jewellery was taken in the break and enter.

2) Yesterday afternoon a residence on Adelaide Street was entered and a mountain bike, a DVD player and a number of CD’s were taken. Two persons were seen in the area prior to the break and enter. They are described as being a blonde female between 18-20 years of age, with a skinny build and a male between 18-20 years of age wearing a black ball cap.
