Male Charged with Possession 29-year old James Ewart of 33-147 Lewis Road will appear in bail court this morning after officers from the Investigation Services Section followed up on information regarding Mr. Ewart possibly pawning stolen guitars.
Male Charged with Possession

29-year old James Ewart of 33-147 Lewis Road will appear in bail court this morning after officers from the Investigation Services Section followed up on information regarding Mr. Ewart possibly pawning stolen guitars. It is alleged that Mr. Ewart pawned 2 guitars that had been stolen from a break and enter to a home in the city’s east end back in November of 2004. Officers located one of the guitars in a pawnshop and subsequently arrested Mr. Ewart yesterday afternoon. The accused has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000.

Imparied Driving Charges Laid

Around 3 am this morning Patrol Officers attended on Peoples Road for a truck in the ditch. Officers found the driver of the vehicle to be under the influence of alcohol. 25-year old Ryan Shand of 490 Town Line has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on February 14th.

2 Youths Charged

A 12-year old and a 14-year old young person were arrested yesterday afternoon after a complaint had been received on January 8th of a purse having it’s contents stolen, specifically a credit card, cash, a debit card and some cigarettes. On the 10th of January the 2 youths were found to have the stolen credit cards as well as a convenience card belonging to the victim on them. A small amount of money was unaccounted for. Both youths have been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and will appear in court on February 15th.

Male Charged with Assault

Last evening 19-year old Mark Pine of 1546 Highway 17 East, Garden River, had an altercation with a security guard at a local mall. It is alleged that the accused deliberately bumped into the chest area of the security guard and when asked to vacate the property, he refused to do so. Mr. Pine was arrested by security guards and resisted the arrest. City Police were called and the accused was turned over to Police. Mr. Pine has been charged criminally with one count of assault and one count of resist peace officer. He will appear in court on February 14th.

Thieved Try to Steal Smowmachine

City Police attended in the1000 block of Fourth Line East in regards to a mischief call yesterday. It appears that thieves attempted to steal a snow machine and in the process broke a number of lights in the garage in which the machine was stored.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

City Police responded to 12 motor vehicle collisions in the last 24-hour period. One resulted in injuries. Just before noon hour yesterday City Police attended at the intersection of Queen Street East and Church Street for a collision with injuries. A car being operated by Patricia Swire of 136 Wiber Street was traveling eastbound on Queen Street East, when a car operated by Peter Hatzipantelis of 46 Elaine Court started to turn left from Queen Street onto Church Street. The 2 vehicles collided and both drivers were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Vehicle damage is described as moderate to light. Mr. Hatzipantelis has been issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario for left turn-fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.
