The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Unit is requesting the public’s assistance with an investigation into a motor vehicle collision that occurred on the 7th of June at 5:24 pm at the intersections of Conmee Avenue and John Street.

Marie Police Service Traffic Unit is requesting the public’s assistance with an investigation into a motor vehicle collision that occurred on the 7th of June at 5:24 pm at the intersections of Conmee Avenue and John Street. The collision happened in the intersection and involved a green 1995 GMC Jimmy and a black Ford Ranger Pickup truck. The driver of the GMC Jimmy had to be transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehciles were moderately damaged.

Shoplifting Related Arrests

City police were dispatched to Sears at the Station Mall yesterday at 12:06 pm regarding two males that had left the store with stolen power tools. The two males fled on bicycles towards the downtown area. Police attended in the area and one of the males, 38 year-old Scott Erdman of 168 Andrew Street was observed by police on Queen Street East near Tancred Street and when police approached him, he attempted to flee. He was quickly apprehended and struggled with officers to get away. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of a stolen pair of Reebok running shoes from Sears and a Tec codeine tablet. He was also on probation at the time to keep the peace and be good and to stay away from Sears. As a result, he was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of possession of stolen property, one count of resist peace officer, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of breach of probation.
The second male, 19 year-old Eric Beer of 177 Andrew Street was located on Central Park Avenue and when police were attempting to apprehend him, he pushed his bicycle into one of the officers and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended after running into a residence and attempting to hide. He falsely identified himself to officers at the time of his arrest and was also found in possession a Dewalt reciprocating saw that he had stolen from Sears. Officers also discovered that this accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft from Canadian Tire from the 4th of June and for falsely identifying himself to police at that time. He has been charged with two count of theft under $5,000.00, two counts of obstruct peace officer, one count of possession of stolen property, one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house and one count of assault peace officer. He is to attend in bail court this morning.

43 year-old Linda Porter of 1223 Trunk Road was arrested on the 7th of June at 10:15 am at the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of intoxicated in a public place, one count of drinking alcohol in a form that is not liquor under the Liquor Licence Act and one count of enter premises when entry is prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act. It is alleged that the accused attended at the IDA Drug store in the mall in an intoxicated state, stole a bottle of mouthwash and some batteries. She was apprehended by mall security and held for police. At the time, the accused was prohibited from being in the mall. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

41 year-old Tammy Coccimiglio of 38 Creekside Lane was arrested on an outstanding warrant on the 7th of June at 3:40 pm on Farewell Terrace. She has been charged with one count of fail to appear court and one count of fail to appear for prints in relation to a shoplifting incident in the Station Mall back in February. She is to also appear in bail court this morning.

• A red BMX Trick bike was stolen from St. Patrick’s School on Texas Avenue yesterday.
• A vehicle on Lewis Road was entered and a Sansa MP3 player and a ladies wallet were reported stolen
• A transmission was reported stolen from business on Pim Street.

Mischief

Graffiti Vandalism at Etienne Brule Public School on Albert Street West:

Last evening at approximately 6:49 pm a witness observed two males in a black Chevy Avalanche truck, that had letters on the back window, pull up to the school, one of the males got out and wrote on the gym doors. The vehicle left the area in an eastbound direction. No further description is available.
