REMINDER TO All MOTORISTS TO WATCH FOR SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind all motorists to watch for school crossing guards and to obey their hand signals. Drivers who fail to stop for a school crossing guard could be subject to a fine under the Provincial Offences Act.
Motorists are being asked to keep the following tips in mind:
• Crossing guards are put in place to protect our children, always obey school crossing guards.
• Wait until the crossing guard has cleared the crossing before entering that intersection. Drivers may not turn into an intersection while the guard is still in that intersection, even if the kids have safely made it to the side walk.
• Be patient. School crossing guards try to make every attempt to minimize disruptions in traffic flow. However, there are times when traffic must be brought to a stop to allow children to cross the street safely.
• Please take care and be alert at all times. The safety of our children is very important.
Penalties for failing to obey crossing guard sign is $85.00

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to wish all returning students a wonderful and safe day.
