Two males will appear in bail court this morning: 1) A 28-year old male was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
Two males will appear in bail court this morning:

1) A 28-year old male was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 9th of September the accused assaulted his common-law wife at their downtown residence by punching the victim in the face. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

2) A 37-year old male was arrested last evening at 6 pm and charged with five counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 10th of September the accused allegedly threatened to harm his estranged wife and her boyfriend on two separate occasions on that date. It is alleged that on the 11th of September the accused threatened to harm another male person that was friends of his estranged wife and the boyfriend. All of the incidents occurred in the city’s west end.

Break & Enter resulting in Violence

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a break and enter with violence. It is alleged that on the 8th of September a home on Poplar Avenue was broken into around 11:30 am. One of the homeowners was in the home at the time of the break in. The male suspect assaulted the male victim by hitting him with a crowbar. The victim received non-life threatening injuries but did not require any medical treatment. The accused fled the scene after taking some property including an undisclosed amount of cash. The male fled the area of foot. The male suspect is described as being Caucasian, in his twenties and approximately 6’5” tall. He had short dark hair and had a pock marked face. At the time of the break and enter the suspect was wearing a dark blue hoody with a white logo t-shirt. The logo was of a hockey team style, possibly Quebec Nordique. He was also wearing faded blue jeans and possibly work boots. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to work on this case. Mischief Under $5000

A 15-year old youth was arrested just before 9 pm last night and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the youth kicked a wall in a west end residence and then threatened the complainant who notified police. The accused will appear in court on October 17th.

Break & Enter

Yesterday afternoon a home on Wilson Street was broken into. Thieves stole an undisclosed amount of money as well as passports.

There were a number of bear sightings yesterday:

1) Just before 11 am a bear was in garbage that had been left out in the 800 block of Second Line East.

2) Just before 7 pm last night a bear was seen in the area of Fournier Road and Truck Road.

3) Just before 10 pm a bear was seen in the area of Simpson Street.

4) Around 3:30 am this morning a bear was seen on Breton Road heading towards Lake Street.
