Young Boy Hit by Car Yesterday evening at approx. 5:25 PM City Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle – pedestrian collision on Northern Ave.

Yesterday evening at approx. 5:25 PM City Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle – pedestrian collision on Northern Ave. At the time of the incident a mother was pushing a stroller, containing her three-year-old son, across Northern Ave. (from the south side to the north side). As she got half way across a vehicle in the middle lane stopped. The mother continued to cross. A vehicle traveling in the extreme north lane did not see her crossing and struck the stroller as it entered the north lane. The boy suffered serious injuries and had to be transported to hospital by ambulance. City Police are still investigating this collision. Any witnesses to this incident are asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Traffic Services at 9496300 ext 382.

Impaired Driver in the West End

At 12:45 AM this morning City Police attended at Misty’s Fifties parking lot, 658 Second Line W., in regards to a person passed out in his vehicle. After some investigation it was learned that the driver of the motor vehicle was passed out due to alcohol. The driver, 28-year-old Michael Johns, of 75 Hill Rd, was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80mgs. He will be appearing in court on Monday October 30th at 9:00 AM.

Collision with a House

At approx. 1:30 AM this morning City Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle- house collision on Illinois Ave. Upon arrival of the police it was discovered that the driver of the motor vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The driver, 40-year-old Tracy Pistor, of 155 Anna St. was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. The accused will be appearing in court on Monday October 30 at 9:00 AM.

Treatening Death

At approx. 12:20 AM this morning City Police arrested a 21-year-old male and charged him with Threatening. It is alleged that the accused did on Friday Sept. 8th threaten to kill another male person, known to him. The victim believing that the accused intended to carry out this threat contacted the City Police. The accused, Chris Robinson, age 21, of Goulais River, will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Break & Enters

City Police were called to investigate two break and enters from over night. One break-in was reported to a residence in the 100 block of Rushmere Dr. Thieves stole jewellery, a play station and some money. It is not known what was stolen from a Break and Enter at a residence in the 100 block of Tilley Rd.

Four Reports of Mischief

City Police are investigating 4 more reports of mischief. Vehicles were damaged at the following locations:
1. The 100 block of Upton Rd.
2. The 100 block of Henrietta Ave.
3. The 900 block of Wellington St.E.
4. The 300 block of MacDonald Ave.

Vandals threw rocks at a residence and a vehicle in the 400 block of Farwell Terr. yesterday. No motive for the damage.
