Two 15-year-old suspects are facing multiple charges after another youth was stabbed on McNabb Street Friday night.
When Sault Police arrived at the scene at around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, they found a victim with two stab wounds to their arm.
The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries, police say, but the two suspects had already left the scene.
“An investigation revealed the victim, also a youth, had been in a verbal altercation with the two accused youths who are known to them,” says a news release issued Monday morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The altercation turned physical and one of the accused assaulted the victim with a knife.”
Police say the two suspects were found a short while later, at 9:45 p.m., near the intersection of Pim and Wemyss streets.
One of the teens is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
The other 15-year-old is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Their names cannot be published under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and both teens are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
