Two teens are facing multiple firearms charges after Sault Ste. Marie Police say they seized a loaded pistol.
Officers were called to a business in the 600 block of Trunk Road at around 9 a.m. Thursday to investigate a 911 call reporting a person with firearms at a that location.
When they arrived, they arrested a 19-year-old and say the teen had the loaded gun.
“The 19-year-old reported they had taken the firearm from the 17-year-old, who is known to them, because they pointed it at them and threatened them, and others, with it multiple times,” police said in a news release.
“The 17-year-old accused was also arrested.”
The 19-year-old has been charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (firearm)
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized (2 counts)
The 17-year-old has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon (two counts)
- Pointing a firearm (two counts)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (firearm)
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized (two counts)
- Failure to comply with a release order
The 19-year-old accused has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on September 11.
The 17-year-old accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
