Police Seeking Public Assistance The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to a crime that occurred at the Cambrian Mall at approx. 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to a crime that occurred at the Cambrian Mall at approx. 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon. Yesterday afternoon city police received a complaint from a female that two males approached her, while she was in her vehicle at the Cambrian Mall, and demanded money from her. It is alleged that one of the suspects demanding the money was holding a knife at the time. The two Anishinabek male suspects involved are described as:

1. Male mid to late 20’s, 6’ tall, long black hair in pony tails. Wearing a white hoodie, cut-off jeans and a blue bandana.
2. Male, mid 30’s, 5’7” – 5’ 9” tall, med build, dark hair. Wearing a black hoodie and light coloured shorts.

Anyone that may have witnessed the occurrence or observed the suspects in or around the Cambrian Mall is asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and speck to the Detective Office.

Lost Hikers Found

Last evening at approx. 9:30 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Sault Search and Rescue were called to the hiking trails north of the Glenwood Cabins regarding three lost hikers. At approx 2:30 am this morning the hikers, a 64-year-old male, a 19-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were located. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to thank all of the services and the volunteers involved in the search. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would also like to remind members of the public that if they are planning to wander in the woods or along hiking trails to familiarize themselves with the area before going out on an excursion. It would also be advisable to be properly equipped with supplies (i.e. a flashlight, a cell phone and appropriate clothing etc.).

Female arrested for theft under $ 5,000:

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a 17-year-old female and charged her with one count of theft under
$ 5,000. It is alleged that the accused entered the Sears Store in the Station Mall and stole a bra, valued at
$ 34.00. The accused will be appearing in court on Sept 22nd at 9:30 am.

Male arrested for theft under $ 5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime:

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested 47-year-old Franklin Muise, of 597 Lake St. Apt #5 and charged him with one count of theft under $ 5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused entered the Foot Locker Store, in the Station Mall and stole four T-shirts
(valued at approx. $ 79.00). The accused was arrested outside the store by mall security and turned over to police. It is further alleged that once the accused was searched by police that clothing belonging to the Zellers Store, in the Station Mall, was located on his person. Mr. Muise will be appearing in court on Sept 21st at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes:

Break and enter:

A residence in the 100 block of Estelle St. was entered an unknown amount of cash was taken.

Thefts:
Vehicles were entered in the following locations:
The 500 block of MacDonald Ave- electronics were stolen.
The 100 block of Estelle St – misc. items taken.
The 1100 block of Base Line – unknown what was taken.
Two vehicles were entered in the 100 block of Arden St. – cash was taken.
The 200 block of Pilgrim St – car stereo was stolen.
A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Coulson Ave.

Mischief:
At approx. 11:15 pm last night city police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Pardee Ave regarding a mischief complainant. The complainant reported that a group of youths had slashed the tires on her vehicle. The suspects were last seen driving away in a large white vehicle.
