Male Charged with Fraud 24-year old Michael Muto of 123 Roosevelt Avenue will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that during the month of August of this year the accused stole 2 cheques from Carmen Muto Plumbing and Heating.
Male Charged with Fraud

24-year old Michael Muto of 123 Roosevelt Avenue will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that during the month of August of this year the accused stole 2 cheques from Carmen Muto Plumbing and Heating. It is also alleged that the accused was able to cash the 2 cheques and obtained funds with a value not exceeding $2000. The accused was on probation at the time of the offences with conditions. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of fraud, 2 counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of uttering a forged document, two counts of forgery and two counts of breach of probation.


Youth Charged with Arson

A 13-year old youth was arrested yesterday morning by officers from Investigation Services and charged with one count of arson. It is alleged that on July 29th the youth started a fire in the rear porch of the residence in some garbage, which caught on fire and spread to the home. No one was injured in the incident. The youth will appear in court on September 27th. The incident took place in the 700 block of Dyment Street.


Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday afternoon just after 4:40 pm City Police attended at Albert Street East and Spring Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A car operated by Francis Grasely of 807 Trunk Road was traveling eastbound on Albert Street East. It is alleged that a car operated by Carole Irwin of Richards Landing was traveling northbound on Spring Street and stopped at the stop sign, but then proceeded into the intersection striking the Grasely vehicle. Mrs. Grasely was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Damage to the Grasely vehicle is described as severe and the Irwin vehicle received moderate damage. Carole Irwin has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield to traffic on a through highway.


Vehicles Entered Overnight

Yesterday morning 3 reports were taken regarding vehicles were entered overnight on Millcreek Drive. In one of the thefts a garage door opener was taken. A vehicle was also entered in the 100 block of Langdon Crescent and a Sony digital mevica camera was stolen. City Police would again like to remind motorists to lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
