Theft under $5000

32-year old Robert Muhonen of 733 Metzger Street will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on August 30th around 3:30 am the accused entered a vehicle in the 100 block of Laura Street and stole a wallet, cell phone and leather jacket from the vehicle. Last evening when officers from Investigation Services arrested the accused it is alleged that he had the stolen property with him. The accused was on probation at the time of the offences. It is further alleged that the accused failed to notify a change of address condition as set out in a release order. Mr. Muhonen has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of breach of a release order, one count of trespass by night and two counts of breach of probation.

Domestic Dispute

A 35-year old male will appear in bail court this morning. Last evening City Police attended in the downtown area regarding a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law girlfriend by punching and kicking her. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. The dispute occurred in a residence. The male was arrested and charged with one count of assault. Officers learned that the accused was wanted on outstanding warrant for fail to appear in court in relation to an unrelated incident. He was also arrested on that warrant.


Youths Charged with Possession of Drugs

Last evening City Police attended at an east end residence and arrested 4 youths after a complaint was received regarding drug use by the youths. Two of the youths were on release documents with curfew conditions requiring them to be in a certain address between 9 pm and 7 am. These 2 youths have been charged with one count each of possession of a controlled drug or substance, and three counts each of breach of a release order. They will appear in bail court this morning. A 3rd 15-year old was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and will appear in court on October 4th. A 14-year old youth was charged with one count possession of a controlled drug or substance and will appear in court on October 4th.


Youth Charged with Assault

Around 2:30 this morning City Police attended in the 200 block of Wellington West regarding a female being assaulted. A group of youths met up in that area and words were exchanged. It is alleged that a 16-year old youth pulled out a knife a cut the victim in the hands. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The youth has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and will appear in court on October 18th.


City Police received 3 break and enter reports in the last 24 hours:

1) A residence in the 100 block of East Street was entered and thieves made off with a number of tools. The break and enter occurred overnight.

2) A home in the 100 block of Grand Blvd was entered and thieves made off with jewellery and a small amount of money.

3) Just after midnight an alert neighbour called City Police to report that they could see lights on inside East View Public School on Arizona Avenue. The caller advised that it appeared that 2 youths were in the area and that there was broken glass. Officers attended in the area but were unable to locate anyone. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken.
