Yesterday shortly before 1 pm, city police arrested a 5th youth in connection to a break and enter to a residence in the 500 block of Queen Street West.

On July 7th police reported the initial arrest of a youth after a report was taken of the break and enter. Since starting the investigation police have recovered some stereo equipment as well as a 30.30 Winchester rifle.

Yesterday a 13-year-old youth was charged with one count of break and enter and will appear in court on August 10th.


POLICE RECOVER STOLEN PROPERTY
Shortly before 8 pm last night, city police responded to a call of a break and enter in progress in the 100 block of Idaho after an alert neighbour called for help.

Two youths were apprehended in the residence. When searched by arresting officers, both youths had property on them stolen from a break and enter to another residence in the 100 block of Idaho.

Both of the youths also had some property on them from third break and enter to a residence in the 100 block of Indiana. The patrol officers who responded and successfully linked the 2 accused persons to 3 break and enters, recovered a quantity of stolen property.

One of the youths was already on a probation order with conditions. A 15-year-old youth has been charged with one count of break and enter with the intent to commit an offence, 2 counts of possession of stolen property, 6 counts of breaching a probation order, and 2 counts of break and enter.

A 16-year-old youth has been charged with one count of break and enter with the intent to commit an offence, 2 counts of possession of stolen property, and 2 counts of break and enter. Both youths will appear in bail court today.


FAILED TO APPEAR IN COURT
Appearing in bail court today is Sean Daniel McLarty, age 37, of 104-536A Goulais Avenue. Mr. McLarty was wanted on an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court in July. Mr. McLarty was arrested on June 3rd and charged with mischief, threatening death, assault with a weapon and driving while prohibited.

It is alleged McLarty got into a verbal argument with another male in the City’s west end. When the victim didn’t exit his vehicle, the accused struck the victim’s vehicle with a hatchet causing approximately $800 in damage. It is alleged that Mr. McLarty threatened the victim if he called the police. The accused and the victim are known to each other.

Mr. McLarty had a court date of July 5th that he failed to attend for and subsequently a warrant was issued for his arrest.


SCHOOL BOARD VANDALISM
Over the weekend, city police were called to the Huron Superior Catholic School Board’s Office on Ontario Avenue regarding a mischief call. Person or persons had spray-painted a number of obscene and racial comments along the entrance doors, side windows, utility shed, and handicap ramp.

A string of Christmas lights was also set on fire. Damage is believed to be in excess of $1,000.
