The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Branch is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a pick-up truck involved in a collision on June 14th.
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Branch is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a pick-up truck involved in a collision on June 14th. The incident occurred on Monday June 14th at approximately 6:00 pm at the intersection of Andrew St. and Cathcart St. involving an older grey pick-up truck and a young pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 5-year-old boy suffered minor injuries when he was struck by the truck. The driver of the truck originally stopped to offer assistance but later left prior to exchanging any information with the parent of the boy. The pick-up truck driver and/or any witnesses that may have information about this collision are asked to contact Cst. Dave Lapish at 949-6300 ext 295.

Male to appear in bail court

Yesterday evening officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male on assault charges. It is alleged that between June 3rd and June 5th the accused assaulted his common-law-wife by spitting on her, elbowing her and pushing her to the ground. It is also alleged that the accused threw lit cigarettes at her face. The victim did not require medical attention for her injuries. The accused male is charged with three counts of assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Female arrested for theft

Yesterday afternoon officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old female for theft under $ 5,000. It is alleged that the accused, Candice Champagne, age 19, of 206 Wellington St. E. Apt # 2, entered the Zellers Store in the Station Mall and stole cosmetics and pet supplies valued at $ 30.47. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to the city police. Ms Champagne will be appearing in court on July 19th at 9:00 am.

Property crimes

Break and enter

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received two complaints of attempted break and enters at residences in the 100 block of Princess Cres. and the 100 block of Eastern Ave.

Theft

A bicycle was stolen from the 400 block of Albert St. E.

Mischief

A door and windows were damaged to a business in the 200 block of Bruce St. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Taskar Dr. was damaged.
