Two persons to appear for bail court

Last evening at approx. 8:00 pm city police were called to the Mac’s Mart Store, located at 187 Gore St. regarding a robbery. After receiving information from witnesses and searching the downtown area police arrested a 43-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused entered the store carrying a large knife and demanded money from the clerk. The accused received a small amount of cash and fled. Police were able to locate the accused a short distance from the scene. It is further alleged that while being arrested the accused resisted the officers and assaulted one of the officers. At the time of these offences the accused was on a recognizance release order. Gordon Leonard, age 43, of 331 Beverly St. is charged with one count of robbery, one count of assault police , one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of a recognizance. The clerk was not injured in the robbery.

Yesterday afternoon Jamessa Taylor attended at the city police station and turned herself in for two warrants. It is alleged that the accused breached an undertaking and failed to appear for court on May 21st. Jamessa Taylor, age 28, of 322 Howey Dr., Sudbury is charged with one count of breach of an undertaking and one count of failing to appear for court.

Female arrested for robbery

On May 24th at approx. 10:30 am city police attended at an east end residence and arrested a 27-year-old male on charges of theft under $ 5,000, robbery and breach of probation. It is alleged that on May 24th Corey Peplow, age 27 of 254 Wallace Terr. assaulted a female, known to him and stole a quantity of prescription pills from her. It is further alleged that on May 23rd the accused attended at a residence in the 100 block of Manitou Dr. and stole a bicycle. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation. The victim of the assault did not require medical attention.

Yesterday evening at approx. 8:50 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police and the Rankin Police Service arrested a female for robbery. It is alleged that the accused, Loretta Waboose, age 23, of 166 Frontenac St. assisted Corey Peplow assault and rob a female victim of a quantity of prescription pills. The accused will be appearing in court on June 28th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for driving while disqualified

Yesterday evening city police arrested a male for driving while disqualified. It is alleged that Luke Dale, age 27, of 274 Selby Rd. was operating a motor vehicle on Base Line while his licence to do so was disqualified. The accused will be appearing in court on June 21st at 9:00 am

Break and enter


A residence in the 1100 block of Peoples Rd was entered over the weekend. It is unknown what was taken.

Mischief

A glass door to a business in the 400 block of Queen St. E. was broken last night.

Theft

Two vehicles were entered in the 100 block of Chartwell Dr. A bicycle was stolen from one of the vehicles.
Electronics and tools were stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Charles St. Propane tanks and an outboard motor tank were stolen from a residence in the 800 block of Bonney St.
