Male charged with possession of counterfeit money


Yesterday morning City Police officers attended at the Station Mall after receiving a complaint of a male passing counterfeit $10 bills at a number of stores. Officers located a male in the mall that matched the description of the suspect, and when the male was searched after being arrested, officers located a number of counterfeit $10 bills in his possession. Kevin Charrette, age 35, of Brantford, Ontario has been charged with one count of possession of counterfeit money and will appear in bail court this morning. Officers from the Fraud Unit are continuing the investigation in the matter. Businesses in town are asked to check for counterfeit $10 bills with the serial numbers FEL3790261 or FEM9344819. 2 Males charged

Yesterday morning patrol officers had occasion to check to 2 males inside a vehicle in the downtown area. When officers looked in the vehicle they noted a joint in the car as well as a small amount of cannabis resin in a container. A search warrant was obtained for the car and officers located 13 ounces of hash oil with a street value of approximately $10,000; 5-6 pounds of marijuana with a street value of approximately $20,000 and a quantity of cash. 40-year old Alain Plouffe and 45-year old Marc Ducharme, both of Saint Gabriel de Brandon, Quebec will appear in bail court this morning. Both males have been charged with one count each of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts each of possession for the purposes of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.

Male charged with breach of release

A 35-year old male will be appearing in bail court this morning after being arrested late last night after City Police responded to a downtown residence for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the male kept bothering his common-law wife by calling her names and waking her up. The male was on conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. When officer arrested the male for breaching his release order they a small amount of cannabis resin in his possession. The male was also on conditions to abstain from the use of drugs. The male has been charged with 2 counts of breach of a release order and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Michigan male charged

46-year old Dale Ranney of Flushing, Michigan will also be in bail court this morning. Last evening the accused was brought into Canada Customs for Immigration purposes after crossing the bridge into Canada. The accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Customs Officer had Mr. Ranney provide a breath sample on a screening device and then he registered a fail City Police were contacted to continue the arrest. Mr. Ranney has been charged with one count of consume over the legal limit.

Break and enters reported

Yesterday City Police received 4 reports of break and enters. A home in the 100 block of Old Garden River Road was entered over the weekend and food and Christmas ornaments were taken. Yesterday morning a home in the 100 block of North Street was entered and the homeowner is working on a list of items that were taken. A home in the 100 block of Borron Avenue was entered yesterday afternoon and a small amount of coins were taken. A home in the 100 block of Albert Street East was also entered and a DVD player, a stereo system and jewellery were taken.
