Update to OPP Police Pursuit Officers with the Sault Ste.
Update to OPP Police Pursuit
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at the Sault OPP Detachment at 2:05 pm yesterday afternoon and charged 26 year-old Raymond Joseph with one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, one count of Flight from Police and one count of Fail to Remain under the Highway Traffic Act. It is alleged that at approximately 10:30 am, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, observed the accused driving the 2006 Chrysler 300 southbound on Great Northern Road. In attempts to stop the vehicle, a spike belt was deployed on Great Northern Road just north of Fourth Line. The vehicle evaded the spike belt by driving onto the side of the roadway and failed to stop. At this point, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service called off the pursuit for public safety reasons. At 10:40 am the vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of Great Northern Road and Second Line East and fled the scene. There were no injuries reported in this collision. The accused was later stopped by the OPP in the Bruce Mines Area and taken into custody and is to appear in bail court this morning.

Youth Arrested for Assault
A 14 year-old male youth was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service last night at 7:50 pm and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. The accused was wanted for an incident that occurred at a local high school on the 6th of October when he was allegedly causing a disturbance inside the school, raised a fist and threatened to punch a staff member that instructed him to leave. He is to attend in bail court this morning.

Shoplifting Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 31 year-old Jason Solomon of #4-642 Wellington Street East yesterday afternoon at 4 pm at the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property. It s alleged that on the 19th of October the accused attended at Zellers and stole a shower curtain. At the time of his arrest officers found him to be in possession of a stolen Acer laptop that had been reported stolen on the 17th of October from a break and enter on Queen Street East. He is to appear in court on the 22nd of November.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Ronald Stewart of 263 McNabb Street yesterday afternoon at the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 19th of October he attended at the LCBO Store and stole a bottle of vodka. He was apprehended by mall security and held for police. He is to attend in court on the 22nd of November.

Robbery at Mac’s Mart
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is currently investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 4:21 am this morning at the Mac’s Convenience Store at 1230 Wellington Street East. A lone male entered the store wearing a hoodie, purchased a bottle of juice, pulled out a pair of scissors and demanded the money from the till. The male suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. Officers searched the area with negative results. The clerk was not physically injured. The suspect is described as a white male, 16 – 18 years of age, thin build, wearing a black, plaid hooded coat with a white shirt underneath and blue jeans.
