NEIGHBOUR CALLS POLICE
Shortly after 11:00 last night a “nosey neighbour” called the city police to report a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Huron Street.

The caller advised a car had been left on Beverly Street near the tracks and a male ran from the car. The caller was able to provide a detailed description. Officers were in the area and located two males together, and one male matched the description provided by the caller.

Other officers checked on the vehicle and found that the abandoned Chrysler Dynasty had its ignition punched out. Officers were able to determine the vehicle had been parked up at Greenbelt Bingo and stolen from that location.

Further investigation by the officers turned up witnesses who placed the 2 males together with the vehicle in the area shortly before the police were called.

One of the accused was found to have vice grips and a screwdriver in a pouch on his waist.

22-year old Mike Mearow of 8-41 Edinburgh Street has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of housebreaking tools, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

20-year old Dylan Jocko of 29 London Street has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. Both males will be appearing in bail court today.

SUSPICIOUS DRIVER STOPPED

32-year old Dwayne Macleod of 168 South Market Street was arrested for one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on December 6th.

CAR STOLEN FROM DRIVEWAY
Around 1:30 this morning, a homeowner in the 300 block of Boundary Road called to report his car had just been stolen out of his driveway. The car was reversed from his driveway and the driver of the stolen vehicle ended up reversing along Boundary Road.

The stolen vehicle reversed into a parked truck on Boundary Road a number of houses away, continued across the lawn of the house where the truck was parked, and then hit a stone retaining wall. The driver of the stolen car was then able to get the car into drive and fled the scene of the accident.

Officers that were responding to the call came across the stolen vehicle travelling westbound along Southmarket and the driver did stop at Southmarket and Chartwell when directed to do so by officers.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was found to be a 14-year old youth. The youth has been charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of theft over $5,000. The youth will appear in court on December 7th. Both the stolen car and parked truck received moderate damage.

Students had to be evacuated from the school for a short period of time and no injuries were reported. The High School Liaison Officer assigned to White Pines is currently investigating this incident.
