SooToday reader Kaitlyn Mckee sent in this video of a surprise visit held outside the Great Northern Retirement Home.
"My grandmother, Geraldine McKee has been suffering from memory loss for the past few years and doesn’t understand why her family stopped visiting her," she said in a message to SooToday. "She is 91 years old and has five children, who have all married, 12 grandchildren, most have married, and 22 great grandchildren. She’s been very lonely since the COVID-19 restrictions have been put in place, so my family decided to visit her from her window on Sunday April 26."
McKee says family members in attendance were instruccted to stay at least six feet away from anyone who didn’t live in their house. "We kept our distance and chatted with her under her window one family at a time," she said. "She was so happy, she was up in her window crying tears of joy."
There were 11 cars and 34 family members that participated. The event was captured on video by Jesus Beltran-Ruiz.
