VIDEO: Loss of loved one inspires local woman to fight back against cancer

'This is what I can do to try and make a difference'

Rachel Johnson is making it her mission to ease the burden for families living with cancer in our community. She is helping to spearhead the annual Shoot for the Cure event, which takes place at Algoma University on Friday. This year's event is a particularly special one for Rachel and her family, as it is the first time she'll be participating in it since losing her father to cancer last summer.

Rachel and two students, each with personal connections to a cancer story, will be lopping off their locks for the cause at halftime of the Algoma U men's basketball game. Their goal this year is to raise $10,000. If you would like to support the event, visit here.
