At the age of 15, Shelby Speck was introduced to marijuana. She spoke about how from there, she graduated into more dangerous illicit drugs. She shared her journey to 120 participants from school boards, health care, social services and corrections at Tuesday's Crime Prevention Seminar during Police Week in Ontario in hopes that her story can help and inspire others facing the same issues. She is currently two years sober and is a student enrolled at Sault College in the Social Worker program.
Dr. David MacPhee, chief psychologist at Sault Area Hospital, also spoke.
