SooToday received the following letter from reader Marjorie Wellar in response to an earlier letter regarding wearing a mask and getting vaccinated this cold/flu season
Abigail Obenchain did an excellent job in pointing out the reasons for all of us to wear masks and get vaccinated.
We are not being kept up to date by health units as to how high the numbers of cases and deaths from COVID are now, apparently much higher than the same time last year. It appears to be seniors who comprise most of the deaths.
On the other hand, William Nash, who says he is "on the fence" about COVID-related things, seems to be in favour of another way of looking at masking and getting booster shots. He feels "enough is enough."
And what is this seemingly great burden he's referring to? Getting a booster shot and wearing a mask in indoor situations.
Those of us who are older have given up many indoor activities in order to protect ourselves and others, but we all have to shop for groceries.
How burdensome could it be to do an act of kindness for vulnerable people in your community and slip on a mask at the grocery store or other indoor venues?
