SooToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Glenna Davey, in regards to the recent inclement weather:

Well, that was one heck of a stormy evening. I felt really bad for staff that had to go to work last evening and into the morning. Snow caused a lot of havoc on our city.

No mail, I was getting used to that!

I have to wonder why all staff wasn't told to stay home.

You couldn't see past your nose! Why does the school board not close all schools for the safety of all?

They all have to travel, some from Airport Road, where open fields are a hazard. The students aren't the only ones whose safety should come first! West going to and from Gros Cap, and the airport is difficult, as are the highways! Bus drivers were not on roads, a clear indication that people should stay home, with their families and pets, and take care of parental needs.

Everyone talks about safety of the students, Sault College closed! Kudos to them!

I can never grasp why we think staff are more resilient than students, who, in my opinion, can't always be trusted to stay home alone because their employer demands they attend no matter what.

Grader operators would appreciate time to clear a lot that's empty.

Lives are worth it!

Glenna Davey,
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
