Canada Post is suspending delivery service in the Sault today due to inclement weather.

A news release issued today states that the organization has issued a red delivery service alert for parts of Ontario due to the weather and freezing rain.

This means that no mail will be delivered or collected until conditions improve and it is safe to do so.

For more information, see the press release below.

Canada Post has issued today red delivery service alerts for parts of Ontario due to inclement weather and freezing rain. A red service alert means that we are suspending delivery for the day and not sending our delivery agents out or recalling them. There will also be no regular collection during red alerts. Delivery and mail collection will resume once conditions improve and it’s safe to do so. The safety of our employees is our number one priority.

An alert can be issued for a particular community or an entire province, depending on the weather event.

Red delivery service alerts were issued for the following locations:

  • Barrie
  • Muskoka and surrounding areas
  • Peterborough and surrounding areas
  • Sault Ste. Marie
  • Sudbury and surrounding areas

Today’s service alerts will be posted to our Delivery service alerts web page, which lists all active and archived alerts and updates. The service alerts can also be found on our social media platforms: X (@postes_aides and @canadaposthelps) and Facebook.

We encourage customers to clear the snow and ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their mail carriers, when service resumes.

If customers have questions regarding mail delivery, they can contact Canada Post's Customer Service team online at canadapost.ca/support or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).
