Mary Brown's Chicken screens across Canada were hacked today. This photo is from the newly opened restaurant in the Sault.

If you were in one of the 300 Mary Brown’s Chicken restaurants across Canada this morning, you may have noticed something peculiar on the TV screens that normally display the menu.

For a brief period of time today the digital displays said Stand for Humanity. Stand for Palestine.

The message also included the name of a hacker, although it’s difficult to read in the photo.

Tee Dave, the local restaurant’s manager, wasn't quite sure how it happened. He confirmed the message popped up on Mary Brown’s screens across Canada, including at the new restaurant that opened in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday.

"As soon as we noticed it, we turned it off," Dave said.

SooToday reached out to Mary Brown’s head office for additional comment but a response was not immediately provided.
