Chris Scott has been appointed parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Energy and Mines, Stephen Lecce.

Lecce made the announcement on Monday through LinkedIn.

“Honoured to welcome three strong leaders to the Ministry of Energy and Mines with Sam Oosterhoff,” Lecce’s post said.

“Chris Scott, Rudy Cuzzetto, and David Smith will play a critical role with Sam and I as we generate more affordable power and accelerate resource development.

“Under Doug Ford, we are on a mission to seize this generational opportunity for Ontario and Canada.”

Scott, who became the MPP for Sault Ste. Marie after the Feb. 27 election, shared Lecce’s post on his own LinkedIn page, saying he’s “incredibly proud” of the new role.

“Thank you to Premier Doug Ford for the confidence and trust—it’s an honour to take on this important responsibility,” he said.

“Ontario’s energy future and our rich supply of critical minerals are central to our province’s economic strength and environmental leadership.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside Minister Stephen Lecce, a dynamic and results-driven leader, as we tackle the exciting challenges and opportunities ahead.”
