The Sault Climate Hub's May webinar welcomes guest speaker Lauren Moran of Harvest Algoma.

The event will take place on Zoom on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:30 pm.

In October 2023, the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation centre took over the operations of Harvest Algoma, a food resource centre established by the United Way in 2018. Its mission was to increase food security, reduce food waste, and offer education around food systems and their impact on the environment.

This webinar will take an in-depth look at Harvest Algoma’s projects and programming, some which have been adopted from their previous model and expanded upon, and some which have been newly established since the transition.

Their new model focuses on enhancing their most impactful programming: strengthening community partnerships, and generating revenue to be able to sustain and continually improve on the work they do to feed the community.

Moran has been the acting community enterprise manager since July 2024 and has been involved with the organization in some capacity since 2022. Her educational background includes a B.Sc. in sustainable agriculture and food systems a BA in community economic and social development, with career experience ranging from agricultural field research, grant writing for nonprofits, organizing fundraising events and volunteer management.

Registration for the free event is here. All webinars are recorded and on the Sault Climate Hub's YouTube channel.
