For the first time, SAHF 50/50 and Split the Pot Lottery tickets are now available at local convenience stores, according to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation.
The move makes it easier for local residents to support the foundation, which funds critical medical equipment at Sault Area Hospital, while getting the chance to try their luck at winning big cash prizes.
To celebrate the launch, a kickoff event will be held at New York News in the Station Mall on Wednesday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Community members are encouraged to attend the celebration to learn more about both lotteries, enjoy a chance to win and support a vital cause.
“We’re beyond excited to bring SAHF 50/50 and Split the Pot Lottery to convenience stores across the Sault,” Ashley Cerra, communications and development officer at the SAH Foundation, said in a news release.
“Every ticket sold directly supports the purchase of critical medical equipment at our hospital, including items like patient beds and monitors. When you support the Sault Area Hospital Foundation lotteries, your ticket makes a difference for local healthcare. The Foundation is the sole source of funding equipment, so we rely on the generosity of the community and participating in these lotteries helps, too.”
As of April 1, tickets for both lotteries will be available at:
- Our Place Confectionary
- Krazy Ernie's
- Paquette’s Confectionary
- Millies Mini-Mart
- New York News in the Station Mall
- Airways General Store, and
- Metallo’s Mini Mart
Split the Pot and SAHF 50/50 tickets start at $10 each.
SAHF 50/50 has been running monthly online for more than five years. The hospital foundation says the lottery has contributed nearly $5 million to the hospital, and more than $8 million in cash prizes to jackpot and early bird winners.
Additionally, Split the Pot Lottery has raised more than $97,000 for SAH Foundation, with 15 lucky winners from the Sault area sharing over $67,000 in prize money, including one grand prize winner and 14 early-bird winners.
All proceeds from Split the Pot Lottery tickets bought at local convenience stores directly benefit SAH Foundation.
In each draw, the final jackpot is divided as follows: one grand prize winner receives 60 per cent; two additional winners share 20 per cent; and 10 others split the remaining 20 per cent.
