Man charged after collision with police cruiser in west end

A motorist has been charged following a collision with a marked Sault Ste. Marie Police Service vehicle in the west end Tuesday night. 

An officer was travelling south on Korah Road near Douglas Street around 8 p.m. when a white car travelling east on Douglas Street failed to stop at the intersection and struck the passenger side of the cruiser. 

The lone officer in the cruiser did not suffer any physical injuries but was transported to hospital as a precaution. The driver of the white car did not sustain any physical injuries and did not require medical attention.

A 69-year-old man was charged with failing to stop for a stop sign under the Highway Traffic Act.
