Hockey legend Doug Gilmour was in Sault Ste. Marie promoting his new book, Killer: My Life in Hockey. The former Toronto Maple Leaf graciously met fans, exchanged stories and signed copies of the memoir at the Station Mall Wednesday evening.
While some in attendance were there just to meet someone famous, the chance to shake hands with Mr. Gilmour was “a dream come true” for Louise and Michel.
“I’ve always wanted to meet him. I’ve followed him his whole career. He’s my favourite player,” Louise told SooToday.
Michel laughed as he told us that Louise was chomping at the bit throughout dinner, worried the pair would get stuck in a giant line and miss meeting Gilmour.
Throughout his NHL career, Gilmour played for the St. Louis Blues, the Calgary Flames, the New Jersey Devils, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Buffalo Sabres, and the Montreal Canadiens. But it’s his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs that he’s most famous for. He continues to hold a number of Leafs franchise records, including number of points in a single season (127), number of assists in a single season (95), and number of assists in a single game (6, tied with Walter ‘Babe’ Pratt).
