The Marconi Multicultural Event Centre is slowly getting back to business after a fire broke out in the building’s laundry room last week.
Takeout food is now up and running again after the fire caused significant smoke damage to parts of the event centre, located at 450 Albert St. W.
The estimated cost of the damage has yet to be determined.
“We’ve been given permission by Algoma Public Health to open the kitchens, the takeout and the frozen food areas,” Marconi general manager Stephen Macnamara told SooToday on Thursday.
The Mother’s Day Brunch event originally scheduled for May 11, meanwhile, has been cancelled by management as a precautionary measure.
The upper floor of the building is tentatively scheduled to open May 16.
Bocce courts at the Marconi are expected to reopen at the end of the month.
