NEWS RELEASE
ALGOMA DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
The Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) have received confirmation from the Ministry of Education that they will be sharing a newly built JK-12 school in Blind River, ON.
Specifics of the funding will be released mid-February, but both Boards are delighted with the news and very proud that the partnership will see them not only share space, but also explore exciting, innovative thinking around program delivery and learning opportunities. The new school will be located on a new site, also to be announced in February.
Algoma District School Board Chair, Jennifer Sarlo commented: “Our Board has proactively sought community partnerships as well as collaboration with coterminous Boards, as we seek to provide unique learning opportunities for our students while responsibly and creatively sharing our resources. We are excited about the opportunities that will exist in this new, JK-12 facility in Blind River.”
Lucia Reece, ADSB’s Director of Education added, “We heard clearly from the parents and families in Blind River that they value their community school and that we ought to explore all possible facility options as well as how to increase our students’ opportunities to learn French. I believe we have found a joint-use solution that might well serve as a model for the province, particularly for small communities. Je suis heureuse de pouvoir travailler avec mes collègues au Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario!”
Further details of the project will be available later this month.
