An impressive amount of snow accumulated in Sault Ste. Marie overnight as a snow squall warning from Environment Canada remains in effect for the region.
The city has declared a significant weather event and also cancelled all transit services until further notice due to winter weather conditions.
Other city closures and cancellations include:
- The City landfill is closed until further notice
- There will be no garbage or recycling pick-up today
- City community centres are closed, and all programming is cancelled until further notice
- The Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre will be closed until further notice
