Outdoor piano project hits the right note in Sault Ste. Marie

Music lovers rejoice: A new initiative is bringing live, movable performances back to downtown sidewalks

Live outdoor piano music has returned to the city's downtown.

Sault Downtown Association unveiled a new, rollable piano outside of its Queen Street East headquarters during Sault Ste. Marie's Longest Garage Sale event on Saturday.

The upright piano, which has been around the Algoma District for decades, will be made available for use by the public sporadically throughout the summer.

Sault College's welding program helped with the project by affixing a set of wheels to the bottom of the piano and a handle on its side so the instrument can easily be moved from one location to another.

The piano will be rolled to various locations downtown and will be stored inside of the Sault Downtown Association headquarters whenever it's not in use.
