The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service's online auction platform is live once again.

Originally aunched in 2021, it is used to auction off property seized in criminal investigations and recovered items that go unclaimed.

Past auctions have seen tools, bicycles, jewellery and vehicles auctioned off.

Potential bidders must create an account with their name, email address, and phone number before being able to place a bid. Winners will be notified by email and must pay via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction closing.

The first auction of the year — featuring an assortment of tools — went live today and will remain open until June 19 at 3 p.m.

The auctions will be ongoing.

Funds collected will be deposited into accounts held by the Police Services Board and, in accordance with the Police Services Act, the money can only be used for certain projects such as special investigative purposes or community appreciation.

Auction items, rules, policies and frequently asked questions can be found here.
