City hall is seeking your input on a measure designed to get drivers to slow down, pay attention and stay in their lanes – otherwise known as traffic-calming bollards.
"Bollards are temporary fixtures placed on roadways and removed before winter, to deter speeding and promote safer driving practices in targeted areas," the City of Sault Ste. Marie said in a news release.
Specific streets have been identified in response to community concerns regarding speeding and road safety, according to the city.
Two open houses have been scheduled for the public to attend and provide feedback:
Wednesday, June 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.
John Rhodes – 260 Elizabeth St., Accessibility Advisory Committee Office
- Queen Street East – Boundary Road to Millwood Drive
- MacDonald Avenue – Pine Street to Lake Street
- Black Road – Sinclair Yards entrance to Third Line East
Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Northern Community Centre – 556 Goulais Ave., Community Space
- Fourth Line West – Aronson Drive to Peoples Road
- Baseline – 130 meters west of Carpin Beach Road to 340 meters east of Carpin Beach Road
The city said staff will be available to discuss project details and it encouraged community engagement throughout the process.
