City staff are working on plans for a replacement rink shack at Esposito Park, members of the parks and recreation advisory committee were advised this week.
"We're doing some work with our Esposito rink shack on a redesign," Virginia McLeod, the city's manager, recreation and culture, told the committee on Tuesday evening.
"We're working on securing some architectural services to have that design completed so that we can replace the rink shack there, hopefully in the near future, and bring a budget request to council."
McLeod also mentioned some upgrades proposed for Rocky DiPietro Field.
"We just secured the scoreboard and we're finalizing the [goal post] uprights," she said.
The meeting was also told that drainage, grading and possible irrigation are planned for the Queen Elizabeth field across the street.
Other disclosures from Tuesday night's committee meeting:
- a grand opening for the revitalized Rosedale Park is being planned for May
- grand openings will be held in June for the upgraded Parkland and Westwood Parks
- the next park slated for revitalization is Wilcox Park, between Spruce Street and Maple. City staff are preparing a request for proposals and are awaiting confirmation of funding
- new lighting is to be installed at North Street ball diamond this fall
- there are no immediate plans for improvements to the track at Rocky DiPietro field
- Jennifer Flood was chosen as the committee's chair for 2025
- Graham Young will be vice-chair
