The timing could be any better as the cold weather exits, and the heat arrives for the long weekend where outdoor recreational facilities open back up to the public. By Friday afternoon, we will see temperatures shoot up into the upper teens and set the stage for more spring-like weather. For the first time since last September, both Saturday and the Holiday Monday have been shot at 20°C. The odds are that Sunday won't be as glorious as a damp East wind brings cloud cover, cooler temperatures, and likely some rain.
Patchy fog gives way to overcast skies Friday morning with periods of rain early in the afternoon. The sun should appear shortly after the rain and quickly help push daytime highs to near 15°C.
Warmer temperatures return Saturday under mainly sunny skies. Daytime highs should reach 18°C with a weak onshore breeze for those folks near the water.
The Sault area is still at risk of rain on Sunday as the northern edge of a storm system over the Lower Great Lakes slides the region. There remains a chance that this system moves even further south, and we miss most of the rain. Either way, the associated cloud cover with that system will likely drop daytime highs back to 10°C.
Victoria Day will see sunshine return and daytime highs climb again to near 20°C. Next week also looks hopeful for sunshine and above seasonal temperatures.
