YouLaunch, a division of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC), is excited to announce the launch of the redesign of www.youlaunch.ca.
Offering new programming for elementary, high school, and post secondary institutions and students focusing on exploring innovation, growing entrepreneurial thinkers, and building STEM (science technology, engineering, mathematics) based skills.
As part of the newly updated website, YouLaunch offers a variety of programs available online from the www.youlaunch.ca website. Teachers at the elementary and high school level can now book available classes online and work with the YouLaunch team to accommodate special request for extraordinary classroom experiences.
Patti Trotter, entrepreneurship coordinator, is enthusiastic to offer teachers resources they may not currently have available to help their students prepare for the future.
“This expansion in programming with the new online booking system offers teachers in the Algoma region a chance to bring new and innovative programs to their classrooms to really enable students to think creatively and entrepreneurially, preparing them to stand out when applying for future careers. It is never too early to start developing new entrepreneurial ways to solve tomorrows problems.”
Digital Literacy and technology-based skills are increasingly being recognized as important skills for the future workforce.
“During the current digital literacy pilots taking place in participating elementary schools within the Algoma region, it has become evident that students were excited to learn more about the different aspects of digital literacy including coding which prompted our team to research which programs we could expand to meet this demand in the community,” said John Prgomet, business development manager at SSMIC.
In addition to coding programs, new programs available to be booked in your classroom include Introduction to Computer Science, and Introduction to Mobile App Programming.
Prgomet went on to say, “By expanding our programming, youth will be better prepared for the challenges of tomorrow and excited to explore careers in STEM or open their own business.”
