Air Canada Cup begins here on April 21

The Air Canada Cup national midget AAA hockey championships are coming to Sault Ste. Marie next week. Representing five regions nationally, the Air Canada Cup gets underway on Mon. April 21 with opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

April 21 with opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens. The host Soo North Stars will then play the Central Region champions at 8 p.m. The North Stars -- who as the host entry, are the sixth team in the national showcase -- will then play on Tue. April 22 at 7 p.m., on Wed. April 23 at 7 p.m., on Thu. April 24 at 7 p.m. and on Fri. April 25 at 1 p.m. The top four teams in the six-team tournament will then advance to semi-final play on Sat. April 26. The two losing teams from the semis will play on Sun. April 27 for the consolation championship. The two winning teams from the semis will play later that Sunday in a championship game for the Air Canada Cup that will be televised live by The Sports Network. All games will be played at the Gardens.
