You knew it was going to be a tough night for the Blind River Beavers when Mark Evans scored in the opening minute of the Soo Jr. Greyhounds' 8-2 route of the visitors Wednesday night at Memorial Gardens.

From then, on Jr. Hound forward Josh Leddy took over. The opening period saw the Jr. Hounds outshot the Beavers 17-3 and take a 5-1 lead into the dressing room after 20 minutes.

Evans, Jeff Rainville with his 20th, Sam Colizza with his second; Leddy with his first of three on the night and Joey Coccimiglio with his 11th of the season wrapped up the first period scoring.

Joey Greco scored the Blind River goal.

Brock Lees relieved Blind River starting goaltender Frank Carlucci for the final two periods and played well, giving up just three goals the rest of the way.

The Beavers looked better in the second frame as they outshot the Jr. Hounds 12-11, but could only sneak one shot past goalie Shane Bellini as Nick Plastino rounded out the Beavers' scoring on the night.

Kyle Jones and Leddy scored in the period also to give the Jr. Hounds a 7-2 lead after two.

In the third, the Jr. Hounds turned it up again and outplayed the Beavers out shooting them 20-2 and wrapping up the scoring in the game was, once again, Leddy, as he picked up the hat trick and was named the games first star.

Bellini stopped 15 of 17 shots to earn the victory for the Hounds. Carlucci took the loss stopping 12 of 17 shots before being replaced by Lees, who stopped 28 of 31 shots in the final two periods.

Next action for the Jr. Hounds is Friday night when the Sudbury Northern Wolves come to town to face the Jr. Hounds at Memorial Gardens with start time being 7:30 p.m.
