Forget the fact that John Vanbiesbrouck and Sam Biasucci are partners in the ownership of the Soo Greyhounds. The fact of the matter is, Vanbiesbrouck, as coach/general manager of the Ontario Hockey League Soo Greyhounds, likes Biasucci's son Joey. And Joey just happens to be a goalie with the OHL Brampton Battalion. "Sure I'd be interested in Joey if he became available," Vanbiesbrouck told SooToday.com when told that Biasucci is reportedly being shopped by Brampton. "I've seen him play and he's a good goalie. That's the bottom line to me."

As SooToday.com reported Wednesday, the Windsor Spitfires and Owen Sound Attack have shown an interest in acquiring Biasucci, one of two 18-year old goalies with Brampton. The other, Brad Topping, started ahead of Biasucci last season and is expected to remain as the Battalion's no. 1 goalie. The Greyhounds' goaltending situation is questionable at the moment. Ray Emery is eligible to return as an overage, though he has signed a rather sweet deal with the National Hockey League Ottawa Senators. His two backups from last season, Brock McGillis and Jeff Weber, have potential, though it should be noted that combined, they played less than Biasucci did last season. SIGNED UP: The NHL Nashville Predators have decided to pick up the option year on the contract of former Greyhound right wing enforcer Nathan Perrott, SooToday.com has learned.
