'CATS MINUS BIG END

The Sault Sabercats have been a success thus far in their first Ontario Varsity Football League season. With a record of 2-2, the Sabercats have adapted well to the OVFL. And the locals have a chance to move over the .500 mark when they play host to Barrie tonight in a 7 p.m. match at Rocky DiPietro Field. The 'Cats, though, will be minus big tight end Tony Boniferro for tonight's game. Boniferro severely injured his ankle during a game against Windsor last week. "You know me, I want to be out there. And I hope to play before the end of the season," said the hulking Boniferro, who established himself as a dependable receiver with the Sabercats through the first four games of the OVFL season. "Right now though, the ankle isn't feeling so good." Even without Boniferro, though, the 'Cats are a strong offensive team led by fullback Mark Palombi and speedy tailback Josh Gauthier. And quarterback Travis McLean has played well in making the adjustment from a solid high school football career with the 2001 city champion Sir James Dunn Eagles.
