A pair of touchdowns in the opening quarter got the ball rolling and they seemingly never looked back.
The Korah Colts booked a spot in next week’s senior high school football title game thanks to a 44-8 win over the White Pines Wolverines Thursday night at Superior Heights.
The Colts await the winner of Friday’s other senior football semifinal which will see St. Mary’s take on Superior Heights.
Korah opened the scoring 2:33 into the game as Nathan Guizzetti ran the ball in from 27 yards out to get the Colts on the board. Ty Koski added the extra point on the play.
Late in the quarter, Guizzetti added his second major of the night on a -yard run. The convert on the play by Koski made it a 14-0 game.
Korah extended the lead further 1:18 into the second quarter as Payton Melchiorre ran the ball in from 28 yards out and Koski hit the extra point to make it a 21-0 game.
Just over a minute later, Cam Williamson jumped on a fumble and ran it in from 18 yards out. The convert on the play from Koski made it 28-0.
After White Pines conceded a safety, Zayn Murdoch hit Nathan Higham for a 19-yard touchdown pass. With the convert from Koski, Korah carried a 37-0 lead into halftime.
A.J. Coccimiglio ran the ball in from two yards out early in the fourth quarter to give Korah a 44-0 lead after the convert by Koski.
Late in the game, White Pines got on the board as Garrin Pine ran the ball in from 20 yards out and then hit Nicolas Louttit for a two-point conversion to cap off the scoring.
Guizzetti finished the day with 142 yards rushing on three carries while Melchiorre ran the ball five times for 72 yards.
On the defensive side, Koen Manchulenko had five tackles in the win.
Pine completed 13 of 22 pass attempts for 110 yard passing for White Pines and also ran the ball four times for 50 yards in the game.
Isaiah Kehoe had six tackles and blocked a kick defensively for the Wolverines.
