The Sault College Cougars will be in search of a provincial championship after a huge home court victory over the Fanshawe Falcons on Friday night.
Backed by a 29 point effort from Jean Louis Ouattara, the Cougars defeated Fanshawe 81-73 to clinch one of eight spots in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's basketball playoff tournament March 3-5 at Durham College in Oshawa.
Where the Cougars will be seeded will depend on how the Niagara Knights fare in their final two games next week.
Should the Knights lose one of those games, the Cougars will claim the west division championship and advance into the tournament as the number one seed. Niagara will claim the division title and the top seed with a pair of wins.
The Cougars finish the regular season with a 10-2 record.
Brady Bolan chipped in 21 points in the win while Nate Whalen added 15. Adrian Pytka led Fanshawe with 20 points.
In their final two games at home, Niagara will face Lambton on Saturday before meeting Fanshawe on Wednesday.
