HOUNDS, OTTERS TIE

ERIE, PA. -- Three players involved in the same trade were the game stars here Friday as the Erie Otters and the Soo Greyhounds played to a 3-3 OHL tie. Ex-Greyhound Rob Hisey centre scored the tying goal at 17:51 of the third period to garner a point for Erie. Meanwhile, right winger Jeff Doyle and goalie Adam Munro, who were traded to the Soo as part of the deal that brought Hisey to Erie earlier in the season, had big games for the Greyhounds. Doyle scored two goals, giving him 11 on the season, while Munro was spectacular, making 38 saves in outshining T.J. Aceti, his former Erie goaltending partner. "Munro was just great for them," agreed Erie coach Dave MacQueen. "Personally, I thought that he was the difference in the game. We should have won but it could have been worse. I'm just thankful that we were able to come back and get the point." This was game five of a seven-game road swing for the Soo and the tie upped their record to 2-2-1. The tie also improved the Soo's record to 2-0-1 in their last three games after they had started the road swing with two losses. "The Soo played a pretty good road game but we had the chances to put them away especially in the third period," added MacQueen. "But give them credit, especially Munro and Doyle. They came back here and were obviously inspired." MacQueen also took note of the fact that the Greyhounds were able to regroup after Hisey tied the scored. "(Soo coach) John Vanbiesbrouck has those guys playing hard. They're a hungry team and they work hard."
